What's your full name?
My name is Sarah Nakamya Nabulya Lubowa
Now that's a name! Where are you from originally?
I’m from Kampala, Uganda. The “Pearl Of Africa”
Where do you live now?
I Live in DFW, Texas. I’ve been living here for 16 years.
What made you want to get into modeling?
I was always a performer growing up. I never really saw myself as
a model until one day a great photographer saw potential in me.
We had a photo shoot and the pictures came out great…after
that, many people wanted to work with me and that’s when I
started calling myself a model.
Who would you consider your role models in the modeling
industry?
I admire Iman and Alek Wek because they embrace their beauty and
show the world that African women are strong and beautiful women.
Any other role models that aren't in the modeling
industry?
My Mother Dorothy and my Grandmother Joyce Sebugwawo. They are such
confident and loving women. I can only wish to be just like them
when I am older.
What do you do for fun?
I like to hang out with my Boyfriend, Friends and Family. I read
books and write a great deal. I dance all over the house and sing
to myself when I’m bored.
I'll have to call American Idol for you! How would you
describe yourself?
I’m an “In your Face” and very energetic person.
I’m also very aware of people and my surroundings. I can usually
sense when people are uncomfortable or sad. I like to put smiles
on people’s faces. I’m always looking for the fun in
things. I don’t want to look back in life and wish I would
have had more fun with my youth.
What do you consider the best part of your body?
The best part…My eyes. They don’t resemble anyone’s
in my family because they slant upwards.
I would have said something else, but the
eyes are good...so what's your worst part?
I would honestly say that I hate my feet, lol. They are wide from
all the dancing but I guess in a way that’s a good thing.
Are guys intimidated by you because of your looks?
Yes, very. Guys and girls actually. I’ve noticed that people
won’t talk to me sometimes because they are scared I would
be mean to them or they are jealous. It’s all ok in the end;
the people who love me know I’m a great person.
You ever been able to use your good looks to your advantage,
like to get out of a speeding ticket or something?
HaHa!! Yes! I would get into clubs for free; get free clothes from
designers I’ve worked for. But I’m a good girl; I try
not to get into situations that would put me in any type of danger.
No danger, that's no fun (just kidding!). So then what's
the wildest thing you've done this year?
My life is pretty much wild itself. I would be lying if I said I’m
calm and mellow. I’m a wild child but in a good way. Nothing
too big really. The occassional skinny dipping and jumping on stage
of a concert.
I like you more already! If you could have any one super-power,
what would it be and why?
I would snap my fingers and be any place I wanted to be instantly.
What makes you smile?
Strange things make me smile. People dancing and acting strangely.
I like comedy, life I think is one huge comedy.
Who are your favorite designers?
Valentino is my #1 favorite even though he has retired now. I’m
not too much into name brands though; I like to find what looks
good and wear it. Simple as that.
What's your favorite TV show?
My favorite TV show is American Idol…I love watching people
perform.
I knew it, I'm really gonna call them for you now! Okay,
another modeling question, if you could be on the cover of any magazine,
which would it be and why?
Italian Vogue. I love how they put out the All Black issue. They
really got the point in Italy! When the rest of the industry was
turning their backs on Black Models, Italian Vogue praised us.
If there was going to be a movie about your life, what
would be the title?
Sarai – A Journey To Myself.
